When Safety Meets Sustainability: Arte Viva’s Path to Sustainable Child Safety
At Arte Viva, our mission has always been to protect what matters most: children. But we also recognize that safety today must include sustainability for tomorrow. That’s why we design products not only with child protection in mind, but also with a strong commitment to reducing environmental impact. From the materials we use to the packaging we ship in, our products reflect a deep respect for the planet and the people who inhabit it.
We’re proud to take another step forward: our Click Strip of the Finger Alert 180° now includes recycled PVC, a meaningful upgrade that reduces plastic waste while keeping children safe. It’s one of many ways we’re rethinking product design to be smarter, more responsible, and future-ready.
Turning Waste Into Protection: Recycled PET and PVC
Plastic pollution remains one of the most urgent environmental challenges of our time, and at Arte Viva, we’re committed to transforming waste into purposeful design.
We’ve recently taken a new step on this journey: our Finger Alert 180° Click Strip now includes recycled PVC. This update marks an exciting innovation in our product development, helping reduce the need for virgin plastics while giving new life to existing materials. It’s a small change with a big impact, especially in high-traffic areas like schools and daycare centers, where finger protection is essential.
Additionally, parts of our Acoustic Clouds are now made from 60% recycled PET bottles. These everyday plastics, normally destined for landfills or oceans, are transformed into safe, functional safety products that help protect children in schools, nurseries, and public spaces around the world.
We know this is just the beginning. There’s more to be done, and we’re committed to doing it. With every product we develop, we continue exploring smarter materials, cleaner production, and more circular design principles. Sustainability is not a checkbox for us, it’s a path we’re walking step by step.
Natural Cork: A Smart Choice for Safety and the Planet
One of our most innovative steps toward greener products is the use of 100% natural cork. This renewable, biodegradable material is at the core of several Arte Viva safety solutions. Our Corner Guards, designed to soften sharp edges in schools, kindergartens and homes, are now made entirely from cork. Lightweight, durable, and non-toxic, cork is not only a smart safety choice, it’s also harvested in a way that allows trees to keep growing, absorbing carbon, and supporting biodiversity.
Our Hand Door Blockers, another key product in our range, have also made the switch to cork. These blockers are a simple but effective tool to prevent finger injuries caused by slamming doors, and by making them from natural cork, we ensure that they’re as gentle on the environment as they are on little hands.
Smarter Packaging, Less Waste
Our sustainability efforts go far beyond product design. At Arte Viva, we’ve significantly reduced our packaging waste by switching to recyclable paper-based materials and reusing what we receive from suppliers. In fact, 79% of all packaging material delivered to us by manufacturers is reused.
We’ve also improved our printed manuals: instead of wood-free satin-coated paper, we now use 100% recycled paper. Additionally, we continue transitioning to digital manuals via QR codes to further reduce paper usage.
These steps may seem small, but they make a big impact—cutting down on waste, reducing emissions, and lowering the environmental footprint of every product we deliver.
Beyond Products: A Holistic Commitment to Sustainability
At Arte Viva, our commitment to sustainability goes far beyond the products we create. Our office and warehouse in the Netherlands are powered by solar energy, and our team embraces green commuting, with most employees cycling to work and company cars running on electricity. We partner with organizations like Trees for All to support global reforestation projects and restore vital ecosystems, from Borneo to Sulawesi to local forests in the Netherlands. Sustainability is part of our DNA, from daily operations to long-term goals. We know the journey is ongoing, but with every step, we move closer to our vision: a safer, more sustainable world for children everywhere.
Join Us in Creating Safer, Greener Spaces
As we continue to grow and reach more families, schools, and care facilities around the world, we’re proud to say that every step forward is taken with care, for children, for communities, and for the environment. Arte Viva products protect more than just little fingers. They protect the future.
Because safety shouldn’t come at the planet’s expense. With Arte Viva, you don’t have to choose.
